Darren

Walt: write a character story

Darren

I chose Darren because he’s scared of the dark and so am I. Darren is a boy. He lives with his mum. Pop’s Darren's Grandfather. Darren’s scared of his cousin, Bess. She’s big and she’s mean. Aunt Billie is Bess’s mum. When ever Darren’s scared he goes in his room and play the drums. It helps him when he’s scared.

Darren had to stay with her cousin Bess. His mum was getting mad because she kept on calling Darren and also she’s gonna have a baby. Darren kept on nodding his head in the car. Pop’s forgetful, wrinkly and also lives by himself. Every night, Darren phones his Pop to remind him to go to bed. But if Darren doesn’t phone his Pop, the Pop wouldn’t sleep and he will get worried about Darren.

Number of Coloured Counters

In maths I am learning to group my 20 counters according to colour and display the data.
First I had to draw a tally chart. Here is my tally chart.

Here is my Tally Chart.

Here is my online 2D bar graph.

The most popular colour of counters is pink because it’s taller than all of the rest. The least popular colour of the counters is green also because It’s the shortest. Yellow and blue is the same height. The easiest way for me to read information is by looking at the bar graph.

Identify Unit Fraction

Walt: identify unit fraction

This activity is called Identify Unit Fraction. I had to write the right answer to the question and write it in the rectangular box. The top number of the fraction is called the numerator and the bottom number is called denominator. This game was simple. There was nothing challenging. Next I would want to learn more fractions that are challenging.

Fractions Of a Set

Walt: find fractions of set

In this game, I had to find fractions of a set. I had to drag the right answer which is 2 and drag it to Player 1. The maximum score you could get is 5 but I have 3 and the other player has 2. This activity was really simple. Next I would learn more about fractions of a set but challenging.

Basketball

Basketball

Walt: write a poem/rap

Before the coach blows his whistle
People want to wrestle

A shot here
A block there

The clock goes out
The crowds starts to shout

Dribble left, Dribble right, then shoot
Swoosh! The train screamed toot toot

The ball goes bouncing
Players are shouting

The handle, the passes, the shots raining down

Leaves the other teams couch with a perpetual frown

Myrtle The Turtle

Walt: retell the story

One day at school, in the morning Miss Tarry’s class had a turtle called Myrtle. The class took good care of Myrtle. They even took a walk around the classroom. Myrtle liked the students. After that Miss Tarry took Myrtle inside the aquarium.

Myrtle was still and the heater was broken. Emma shouted “Mrs Tarry!” Miss Tarry came running. It’s Murtle. Something happened to Myrtle. Miss Tarry looked into the aquarium and she saw the broken heater. She even saw Myrtle lying very still. Miss Tarry quickly turned off the power. Also she carefully lifted Myrtle’s limp body out of the aquarium. All of the children gathered around. Nobody said a word. Also some of the children also cried.

All of the children had turns holding Myrtle. “Lets bury Myrtle in the garden”, suggested Emma. “We can still have her near us” said Emma. The children liked Emma’s idea. Talialofa helped Emma dig the hole in the garden. Some children drew pictures for Myrtle and wrote letters to her. Others made paper flowers. Everyone stood on the garden. Emma laid Myrtle carefully on top of the pictures, letters and paper flowers. They missed taking Myrtle for a walk. Two weeks later Emma was standing by the garden. She noticed something moving by the cross. Something was coming up out of the ground. “Miss Tarry!” Emma screamed. Miss tarry and the other children came running. “What is it?” They all asked. Emma pointed to the garden.

Everyone was silent. “It’s Myrtle!” Cried Emma. Emma’s wiped all of the dirt on her. Myrtle had a sore leg but she’s Ok. The children and Miss Tarry were happy.

Money Wise

Walt: write a response to the talk by Evan

Evan came to our school to talk about saving, spending and earning. When Evan talked about saving I felt like if I would save, I would get a lot of money. Also I would spend some on me and save some too. Also when Evan talked about all three, my mind was focussing on what he was saying. Everyone started laughing when he told us a story about his friend when his friend texted him “I’m sorry about your mum LOL. Evan thought he said laugh out loud but It was lots of love. He inspired me alot.
