Pyramids
The Ancient Egyptians built pyramids as tombs for the pharaohs and their queens. The pharaohs were buried in pyramids of many different shapes and sizes from before the beginning of the old kingdom to the end of the middle kingdom. The three best-preserved of these were built in Giza at the beginning of the old kingdom. The most well known of these pyramids was built for the pharaoh Khufu. It is known as ‘Great Pyramid.
Nile River
The Nile River creates fertile green valley across the desert.The Nile River is about 6,670 km in length. It is the longest river in Africa. The Nile River flooded every year between June and September. The largest source of the Nile River is Lake Victoria. Also Nile River flows into the Mediterranean Sea.
Farming
Most villagers were farmers. The Egyptians grew their crops along the banks of the Nile River on the rich black soil. The farmers in Egypt grew crops such as wheats, barley, figs, melons, vegetables, pomegranates and vines. They also grew flax which was made into linen.
